Pastors Matt and Tammy Woodfill established The Way Church of The Woodlands, Texas in March of 2002. Originally from League City, Pastors Matt and Tammy felt a strong call to The Woodlands, Texas. This was soon confirmed by the Word of God in Isaiah 43:19, which says that He will make the way in the wilderness. The direction could not have been any more clear and to The Woodlands, Texas they came. With limited resources and only one member, the young pastors stepped out in faith, knowing that God had great plans ahead of them.
They soon found themselves in the favor of a local apartment complex, which allowed them to use the complex's clubhouse to hold the first services of The Way Church. The services quickly out grew the clubhouse and a larger facility was needed. Wilkerson Intermediate School became The Way Church's second home. The next few years brought growth, the addition of staff members, the development of a worship department and the recognition of The Woodlands community. Pastors Matt and Tammy began each week to explore new ways of illustrating the message of Christ Instead of just using words to teach, they began using props, movies, videos, sets, special lighting and just about anything that would effectively illustrate the Bible.
It was becoming increasingly evident that this was not going to be just an average church. 2005 brought unquestionable certainty that the church needed a facility of it’s own. The unmistakable hand of God was once again seen. Seven and one-half acres of land on Interstate 45 were purchased and over the next two years the phase one family development center was designed and constructed. This unmistakable and quite unconventionally designed facility is a constant reminder of the goodness and faithfulness of God. Within these walls lives have been changed, hearts have been touched, families renewed, marriages restored and all the while God has been continually lifted up. From the very beginning Pastors Matt and Tammy have trusted God to take The Way Church only where He wants it to go. The future is bright for The Way Church, and the best is yet to come!
